Continue going straight, fight or dodge the upcoming Basilisk, and continue straight again until you reach a dead end (where a second Basilisk resides) and then turn right again. You will be briefly running uphill if you are going the right way. You'd be right to presume that you must enter the tunnel, but then take your first right where the tunnel forks in two directions.
